About Marion Eichmann
A telephone, a broom, books, a street scene or a view from the window - Marion Eichmann finds the inspiration for her objects, drawings, installations and collages in her everyday surroundings. During the process of the production of her works, she reduces her motifs down almost to the contours similar to a sketch, but the important details always remain recognisable.
Whatever the artist discovers, she first captures it with a pencil. Then she fleshes out the lines with a pen. In Eichmann's works, colour is not applied with a brush but rather through fine Canson Fine Art paper. Often in several layers, the paper is cut out and glued on. This creates colour and a relief. Fascinating object boxes are thus produced, inviting the viewer to take a closer look and discover the work of art.
Eichmann, born in Essen, Germany, in 1974, studied as a master student textile and surface design at the Kunsthochschule Berlin Weißensee. For her diploma thesis, she used wool to knit a complete room with interior into a sprawling black and beige wavy pattern - with exactly 16,324,800 stitches.
She has been awarded several prizes, has exhibited her work in numerous national and international exhibitions and has regular teaching positions.
