About Takashi Murakami
Takashi Murakami (born 1962 in Tokyo) received a traditional Japanese art education. He studied at the Tokyo National University of Fine Arts and Music, received extensive training in Nihonga painting and graduated in 1993.
His works combine traditional Japanese art, anime and manga elements and pop cultural influences. The artist consciously plays with the connection between high art and pop culture, drawing inspiration from a variety of sources and fusing different styles and images.
His colorful works of art have been shown at many international exhibitions, such as the Museum of Contemporary Art in Tokyo and the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston.
In addition to his outstanding artistic work, Takashi Murakami is involved in many other activities. As a curator, speaker, event coordinator, radio presenter and press commentator, he supports young talents in the art scene and shares his broad knowledge of current issues and developments in the art world. In addition, he founded the company Kaikai Kiki Co, Ltd. in 2001, which specializes in the production of merchandise products, the production of animated films and the development of designs for renowned companies.
The field of graphic arts, that includes artistic representations, which are reproduced by various printing techniques.
