Andy Warhol: Set "Saint Apollonia" (1984)

Andy Warhol (1928-1987) is considered one of the most influential artists of the Pop Art movement and shaped the art world of the 20th century like no other.

With his iconic works, including the famous Campbell's Soup Cans and the portraits of Marilyn Monroe, Warhol shifted the boundaries between art, consumer culture and mass media. Today, his works are considered iconic and are extremely popular collector's items.

We would like to introduce you to a very special work by the artist, which we are even offering as a complete set: “Saint Apollonia” (1984).

A special collector's piece by Andy Warhol

The “Saint Apollonia” set shows the Saint Apollonia in Warhol's unmistakable style - with vibrant colors and strongly contrasting surfaces. The four different color schemes lend the traditional icon a modern, pop-cultural dimension that is simultaneously spiritual, secular and consumerist.

The work demonstrates Warhol's ability to combine the banal with the sacred and pays homage to his fascination with fame, consumerism and transience. The pop color selection turns the classic iconography into a contemporary statement.

A highlight for collectors

For collectors, this complete portfolio of Saint Apollonia is not only a visual highlight, but also an investment of stable value: all four sheets bear the same numbering, the condition is fresh from the press and the colors are magnificent.

About the Artist

Andy Warhol was America's most famous artist. He was considered a revolutionary, an eccentric and the inventor of pop art.

Art critics celebrate him with titles that no other artist has ever been awarded: “pop genius”, “pop king” or “Picasso of pop art” (Künstler - Kritisches Lexikon der Gegenwartskunst).

Warhol's best-known screen prints are the images of Campbell's red and white soup cans and the two-dollar bill. These works are not only iconic, but are among those that have made the artist famous worldwide. The revolutionary break with art tradition that Warhol and his contemporaries made in the USA and England in the 1950s, when they created the new Pop Art movement, is clearly recognizable.

The artist sees the world as it is and depicts it: “I am extraordinarily passive. I take things as they are. I just watch, I observe the world.”

The complete portfolio of Saint Apollonia by Andy Warhol is an impressive example of Warhol's famous series of religious icons.
