Günther Uecker: "Cushion + Book" - Dark" (1969/2021)

During a trip to Bhutan in 1968, Uecker came across the ritual of the monks there placing their prayer book under their heads instead of a pillow to sleep on.

A year later, this inspired him to create the work "Pillow Book", in which he used a large nail to nail a red pillow onto a book painted in red.

Finding life in creativity

Based on this original, a bronze was created in 2021 in a small edition of 25 copies.

A quote from the artist shows the connection between the actions of the Tibetan monks and the artist's creation:

"To make visible the sequence of a movement, as a state of a vitality in which man participates in creative repetition, in monotony, is indeed an exciting action that can be experienced spiritually like a prayer."

We are pleased to be able to offer you this work exclusively.

About Mr. Brainwash

Mr. Brainwash's path to becoming the most successful artist of recent years is closely linked to the name Banksy and his Oscar-winning film "Exit Through the Gift Shop".

In the film, Thierry Guetta meets the street art star Banksy while working on a documentary about the graffiti scene, who inspires him to become active as an artist himself under the pseudonym Mr. Brainwash.

Since then, he has repeatedly used well-known images and people from pop culture in his motifs. Madonna herself had Mr. Brainwash design the cover for her album "Celebrations", which was strongly inspired by Andy Warhol.

Mr. Brainwash is now one of the busiest artists of his time. Constantly new shows and projects in New York, Los Angeles and Europe ensure that Mr. Brainwash has now become a shooting star in his own right.
